Lucky Number Slevin director Paul McGuigan will take a blood-splattered jaunt into history. He’s just been hired by The Weinstein Company to helm their new drama Four Knights.
The story – which will be adapted by playwright Paul Webb from his stage effort Four Knights Of Knaresboro – follows the men who were dispatched by King Henry II to work out a peace deal with the outspoken and legendarily “troublesome” priest, AKA Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Beckett. Sadly for the knights, they ended up murdering Beckett, bringing the wrath of the entire country down upon their heads and forcing them to flee to a distant castle.
McGuigan, who is also attached to work on the Equalizer movie, plans to crank his cameras later this year in London.
