Assuming he and his abdominal muscles survived Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii (and we’re fairly certain he did, lest Anderson have a lot of explaining to do to the Game Of Thrones team about why he melted Jon Snow), Kit Harington is set to co-star in the adaptation of World War I autobiography **Testament Of Youth{ =nofollow}.

Alicia Vikander will star in the film, which James Kent is directing from Vera Britain’s book, originally published in 1933. She was about to take up a place at Oxford when the Great War started and her fiancé and brother were lost in battles. Turning her grief into practical action, Britain deferred her university studies and became a nurse on the frontlines.

She later has difficulty resuming her normal life, but despite becoming part of what was known as the “lost generation”, she returned to Oxford and became a writer and womens' rights advocate.

**Harry Potter **and Gravity supremo David Heyman is producing this one. Harington’s chances of making it through this one intact are pretty much nil: while Vikander has the lead as Britain, he’ll be her doomed fiancé. It’ll mark the second time the pair has worked together, though no one has seen the first yet – much-delayed Legendary fantasy pic The Seventh Son is now due to arrive in 2015.

Harington is ready to start shooting the Spooks film, while Vikander will be seen in Ex Machina and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
