Final Fantasy XV, the first proper entry in Square Enix’s long-running RPG series for over six years, arrives on game consoles in September, and if gamers could hardly be quivering any more with excitement, there’s further hype to be had. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a spin-off movie that ties in with the game’s story is also on the horizon – and Empire has this selection of world exclusive images.

The Final Fantasy series is no stranger to spin-off media – most notably 2001’s Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which boasted groundbreaking computer-generated animation. Kingsglaive certainly looks to be raising the bar in photorealism, with levels of details that will leave you double-taking.

The English-language version has even attracted some A-list calibre, including Aaron Paul and Game of Thrones veterans Sean Bean and Lena Headey. The Kingsglaive of the title is an elite force of solidiers in the magical kingdom of Lucis.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV has already enjoyed a theatrical release in its native Japan, and will get a limited theatrical release in North America; here in the UK, it arrives on digital from August 30, and old-fashioned Blu-ray and DVD from September 30 (the same day as the Final Fantasy XV game).
