The team behind Derailed, which marks the official arrival of the Weinstein Co when it opens on November 14, have signed up for an adaptation of Stephen King’s short story 1408.

Helmer Mikael Hafstrom and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura will make the horror tale, which centres on a writer of the supernatural, who encounters a horrific terror in the Dolphin Hotel’s room number 1408.

The book was adapted by Matt Greenberg and is being reworked by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the writing team behind The People Vs Larry Flynt and Ed Wood.
