Samuel Jackson has signed on to star in Same Kind of Different As Me, from the bestselling memoir by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.
It's one of those deals where there's a production company and a script and a star before there's a studio or a budget. The screenwriters are Roderick and Bruce Taylor (The Brave One) and the producer is franchise king Ralph Winter (X-Men, Fantastic Four, pre-Abrams Star Trek), with Jackson also executive-producing.
The book's subtitle is "a modern day slave, an international art dealer, and the unlikely woman who bound them together", which is a fairly handy nutshell version of the plot. Jackson's character will be Louisiana plantation worker, drifter and ex-con Denver Moore, while the role of his opposite number, toff Dallas art dealer Ron Hall, remains to be cast. Might we respectfully suggest Kevin Spacey, for a Negotiator reunion?
