Netflix has the services of Kevin James already engaged starring in new hapless hero action comedy The True Memoirs Of An International Assassin. The film has now added former Sons Of Anarchy man Kim Coates to the cast.
The cameras are currently rolling under the direction of Kick-Ass 2’s Jeff Wadlow. Jeff Morris wrote the script, which finds the actor as a mild-mannered accountant who dreams of becoming a thriller writer. But when his fictional novel about the life of an international assassin is published as a true story, he’s mistaken for a real hired killer and becomes something of a celebrity.
Trying to escape his newfound infamous status, he escapes to Belize but is there entangled in an assassination plot. To keep his head, he’ll need to channel the character he created – Colt Rodgers – and draw on the skills he’s only chronicled on the page before if he wants to save the day.
Deadline’s report makes no mention of what Coates will be doing, but he’s often called upon to be a tough guy threat in comedies, so perhaps he’ll be making James’ life more difficult. Last seen here on the big screen in Goon, he’ll be back for sequel Goon: Last Of The Enforcers, plus a variety of indie movies including Officer Downe, Strange Weather and The Land.
