While American Killing Eve fans have been enjoying weekly episodes of the cat-and-mouse espionage thriller’s second season since April, the wait here in the UK is enough to stoke up your inner Villanelle. But try and rein in those violent impulses – the delay is almost over, with reports from a recent UK screening of Series 2's opening episodes claiming that the new series will arrive on our shores this June. Even better, the full series will once again arrive as a boxset on iPlayer, so you can binge it all to your heart’s content. The only thing is, we don’t know when in June it’s dropping, and the BBC hasn't released an official confirmation – but we’re looking at a matter of weeks until the next run.
The second season will continue the tangled web weaved between Sandra Oh’s spy Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer’s ruthless assassin Villanelle, a mutual obsession sure to spin off in twisted new ways in the latest set of episodes – especially since Season 1 ended SPOILER WARNING with Eve stabbing Villanelle. Ouch. While the show’s creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge has stayed on in a producer capacity, Season 2 features a new lead writer in Emerald Fennell – here’s hoping it can keep that sharp, witty, and subversive streak so inherent in Bridge’s writing.
Stay tuned for more updates from the BBC on exactly when Series 2 is dropping – but rest assured that the nation’s latest TV obsession is nearly back.
