If you haven’t yet binged the first season of Killing Eve – the BBC’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge-scripted cat-and-mouse thriller that confounds expectation at every turn – then what are you doing? Good – the first trailer for Season 2 has arrived, offering our first proper look at what the next set of episodes has in store. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and Eve (Sandra Oh) are both back – and it seems the roles of hunter and hunted might be flipped as their mutual obsession continues.
First up, props to whoever picked ‘Addicted To Love’ as the trailer’s accompanying song. Second, to the decision to release this teaser on Valentine’s Day. Thirdly, did you see Villanelle’s snazzy PJs? While there isn’t an explicit plot set-up here, it does tease more of everything that made the first season so enjoyable – complex characterisation, razor-sharp wit, and Comer sporting killer fashion.
The new season is hitting American screens on 7 April, which really isn’t far away – but the bad news for UK viewers is that, with this being a BBC America original, we might be in for a bit of a wait. Season 1 launched in the UK in September last year, five months after its US debut. Here’s hoping we won’t be left with such a gap for the new episodes.
