If you made it through 2018 without bingeing the first season of Killing Eve, hie thee to iPlayer and treat yourself to one of the best shows of the year. Phoebe Waller-Bridge's adaptation of Luke Jennings’ Villanelle novels is a cat-and-mouse spy thriller that confounds expectations from moment to moment, with crackling dialogue, twists a-plenty, and properly brilliant performances from leads Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer – so anticipation is understandably high for the next set of episodes.

The good news is, the premiere date for Season 2 has been announced. The bad news is, it’s the US airdate for now. Villanelle and Eve Polastri will return stateside on 7 April, and we have an official synopsis too – be warned, it contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale. “Eve is left reeling, having no idea if the woman she stabbed is alive or dead,” the plot tease reads. “With both of them in deep trouble, Eve has to find Villanelle before someone else does… but unfortunately, she’s not the only person looking for her.”

For now, there’s no UK release date announced – with Killing Eve being a BBC America original, the US got Season 1 in April last year with the UK catching up in September. Considering the reception it got over here, hopefully we won’t be left waiting long – either way, the BBC have confirmed to reporter Scott Bryan that Season 2 is “coming this year”.
