While he’s no stranger to the odd comedy role – your Horrible Bosses films, etc. – it’s not often we report on something with Kevin Spacey that sounds for all the world like it’s more associated with Adam Sandler. Still, Spacey is now attached to high-concept comedy **Nine Lives.
Barry Sonnenfeld is on board to direct and here’s where the crazier element comes in: Spacey will play a workaholic businessman who is involved in a terrible accident. And it leaves him trapped in the body of the family cat. No, we’re not joking. A man more used to conniving and plotting on House Of Cards will be figuring out life as a feline.
Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin are behind the script for the movie, which Sonnenfeld tells The Wrap is a “funny, emotional, commercial comedy". We can but hope.
Spacey is currently at work playing the slightly less humorous Richard Nixon in Elvis & Nixon. He’s also providing a voice for an upcoming DreamWorks Animation film, Boss Baby, which is set to arrive in 2017. And, of course, Francis Underwood will be back in full political flow when House Of Cards returns to Netflix on February 27.
