Gary Marshall has, in recent years, given us Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve and Mother's Day. But if you prefer your festivities with a little more bite, anthology horror Holidays may have what you're looking for. Kevin Smith and Gary Shore are among the directors, and the first trailer has just arrived.
The full roster of Holidays' various segments runs as follows:
Valentine's Day (by Starry Eyes directors Dennis Widmyer & Kevin Kolsch)
St. Patrick's Day (by Dracula Untold director Gary Shore)
Easter (by The Pact director Nicholas McCarthy)
Mothers' Day (by The Midnight Swim director Sarah Adina Smith)
Fathers' Day (by Anthony Scott Burns)
Christmas (by Dark Skies director Scott Stewart)
Hollow Ian (by Clerks director, podcaster and raconteur Kevin Smith)
New Years Eve (by Some Kind Of Hate director Adam Egypt Mortimer)
Seth Green is probably the most recognisable name among the various casts, although Kevin Smith looks to be making an on-screen appearance too. His section features his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, who also stars in her father's Tusk and Yoga Hosers.
"Holidays is a great opportunity for some of the most creative and twisted minds in the genre space today to really let loose and have fun," says producer John Hegeman. XYZ films and Distant Corners Entertainment rounded up both the names and the budget to get the various shorts made.
The anthology, "challenging our folklore, traditions and assumptions" according to the official blurb, gets its world premiere at New York's Tribeca Film Festival on April 14. It hits VOD the next day and US cinemas a week later, but there are no UK release dates yet.
