Jay & Silent Bob Reboot - wrap

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the production of Jay And Silent Bob RebootKevin Smith’s return to the View Askewniverse for the first time since 2006’s Clerks II, and a sequel of sorts to Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back – you’ll know he’s been documenting the entire process in a series of ‘Road To Reboot’ videos. Now the final one has dropped, marking the wrap on Reboot, and features some lovely tributes from Smith and his longtime co-star Jason Mewes.

Talking up his leading man Jason Mewes, who goes way back with Smith to ‘94s Clerks and their youthful friendship before he became a filmmaker, the director had some heartwarming words for his best friend. “We probably don’t go to any of these places without me meeting Jason Mewes,” he reflects. “This man brought the world to my door, and then he took us out into the world because he’s a singular individual with an incredibly unique perspective. There’s nobody else like Jason Mewes in this entire fucking world. I was just smart enough to recognise that and be like, ‘Well that’s one of a kind.’ I love this man. You made a beautiful movie.” Then it’s Mewes’ turn to take the mic, saying: “I love Kevin, and I’m so happy we got to do this, I’m blown away we’re done. Everyone, that is a fucking wrap on Jay And Silent Bob Reboot!”

Reboot will reunite all the familiar characters from Smith’s previous New Jersey-set films, with cast members including Jason Lee, Shannon Elizabeth, Joey Lauren Adams, Brian O’Halloran and Rosario Dawson returning. Plus, we know locations like the Quick Stop and Mooby’s diner will be in there too. The film follows Jay and Silent Bob as they discover a Bluntman & Chronic movie reboot is underway, once again trekking to Hollywood in order to stop the film from being made.

Reboot doesn’t yet have a release date – but with Smith simultaneously editing while shooting, hopefully we'll be back in the Askewniverse before long.
