Kevin Smith is returning to the View Askewniverse for this autumn's Jay And Silent Bob Reboot, but thanks to a chance meeting at a merchandise signing, it appears we could be on for more visits to that world, and particularly the characters that started it all. Yes, Clerks III looks like it'll happen at last.

Smith was intending to make a third Clerks back in 2017, but after Jeff Anderson (who plays laconic slacker/pop cultural nerd Randal) decided he didn't want to be involved, it caused a rift with the writer/director that has now been patched up, according to the man behind Silent Bob.

Work has just begun on a brand new script for the third Clerks outing, with Smith planning a fresh story that will wrap up the saga of the film that saw him launch is career in the movies. So expect to see Jay [{href='https://www.empireonline.com/people/jason-mewes/' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}), Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and more back at the Quick Stop. And here we thought they weren't supposed to be here today.

Jay And Silent Bob Reboot, meanwhile, launches the UK arm of its release on 29 November. You can find an exclusive new image from the movie here.
