You don't usually expect to find Kevin Hart in dramatic material – though he has dabbled on the edges. But for new Netflix miniseries True Story, he'll be diving in, with Wesley Snipes co-starring.
With Eric Newman kicking off the script and Luke Cage veteran Charles Murray running the show, the drama finds Hart as Kid, one of the world's most famous comedians. A tour stop in Kid’s hometown of Philadelphia becomes a matter of life and death when the consequences of a lost evening with his wayward older brother (Carlton, played by Snipes) threaten to destroy everything he’s built.
Hart playing a famous touring comedian doesn't feel like a huge stretch, but we'll be intrigued to see what other shades he can bring to it and his dynamic with Snipes. He's a producer on the show, which features directors Stephen Williams and Hanelle Culpepper handling four episodes each. There's no word on when this might hit the streaming service just yet.
