We learned late last month that Dwayne Johnson would be pulling double duty in the DC movie universe, adding the animated role of Krypto superdog in DC League Of Super-Pets to his existing stint in Black Adam's title character. The star has now hit Instagram to announce some of his co-stars, and while one is not a big shock (Kevin Hart), the others are also fun: Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Diego Luna and Kate McKinnon are all lending their voice talents.
Hart – who has become a regular collaborator with Johnson – is playing Ace, Batman's canine sidekick in the comics. We'll have to wait and see who the others are playing, though as Johnson's post makes clear, not all of them are animals in the film.
Super-Pets has Jared Stern and Sam Levine co-directing, based on a script by Stern and John Whittington. Not much is known about the story, beyond the rumoured basic concept of Krypto teaming up with a flying cat to battle crime while Superman is on holiday. Could you hear Krasinski as Superman? We could. And Reeves as Batman? Would work, though they could both be pets instead.
This new animated adventure currently has a 20 May, 2022 release date on the books.
