Everything we’ve seen so far in regards to Eternals makes it clear: this isn’t your typical Marvel movie. For one, it’s directed by Oscar-winning Nomadland director Chloé Zhao in her first major Hollywood movie. Plus, it’s set over the course of thousands of years, it goes full-cosmic with its explorations of Celestials and Deviants, and it has Angelina Jolie with a magic sword. And with its epic scope, it sounds like the film will have major ramifications for everything around it – as Marvel boss Kevin Feige states in a new featurette.

Talking about how big this one goes, Feige doesn’t mince his words. “The impact Eternals will have on the MCU will be nothing less than redefining the cinematic universe entirely,” he says, teasing that the film “explores the very creation of the Marvel universe itself”. All that, and it finally brings the MCU to the home of Empire Magazine: Camden Town.

Zhao has assembled a major cast for this one – with Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Bryan Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee and more starring alongside the aforementioned Jolie. Eternals is due to premiere on 24 October at the Rome Film Festival, before hitting screens more widely on 5 November.
