It appears McG might finally have lined up something post-This Means War, even though he’s been juggling a variety of possible next movies (admittedly many of them as producer instead of director). After rumours had them both attached, he’s now confirmed to make a new, untitled thriller with Kevin Costner starring.
The film, which up until recently was known as Three Days To Kill, is a Luc Besson co-production, as the prolific French filmmaker has co-written the script with From Paris With Love’s Adi Hasak.
Costner will play Secret Service agent Ethan Runner, who discovers that he’s dying. Shocked by the news, he decides to retire to spend more time reconnecting with his estranged family (hhhm... security types and estranged domestic situations... definitely Besson territory, there).
But Runner is then offered an experimental drug that could save his life – provided he takes one last assignment. Soon he finds himself juggling his family, the job and the drug’s disturbing, mind-altering side effects.
There’s no sign yet on when this will start shooting, though Besson’s EuropaCorp will finance the pic with Relativity Media. Costner, meanwhile, is at work shooting Jack Ryan. He’ll next be seen as Jonathan Kent in Man Of Steel.
