Having enjoyed a surprisingly success with the small-screen Hatfields & McCoys, Kevin Costner now his his eye on a new television project. He's currently negotiating a starring role in Trial, yet another pilot on its way to production at Amazon Studios for its streaming service.

The courtroom drama would see Costner playing Billy McBride, a once powerful lawyer who's now a washed-up alcoholic following a botched murder case and a fall-out with his former partner. But when he brings a case against his old firm, he finds his passion for the law rekindled, and with it his "dry charisma".

David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice) is the brain behind the Trial enterprise, with David Semel (The Man In The High Castle) in the frame to direct. If Costner signs on the line, the pilot will immediately level up to a full ten-episode series.
