After proving that he's back back back with Mr Brooks (which also reminded us that he can act act act), Kevin Costner is lining up another scary movie, with the news that he's signed on for The New Daughter. And even better is the fact that the aforementioned daughter is being played by Pan's Labyrinth's Ivana Banquero.
Costner plays a newly single father called John James who moves to an isolated farm following a painful divorce. Once there, along with his two children, his daughter starts behaving strangely. Could it have anything to do with the burial mound in a nearby field? (Possible spoiler: We're saying probably.)
Spanish director Luis Berdejo is making his feature debut in the hot seat, and it's also Banquero's first English language film (we're guessing there'll be a line somewhere in there explaining that her mother is Spanish-speaking, unless she's managed to completely lose her accent). John Travis is writing the script, based on a short story by John Connolly.
In the meantime, Costner is currently shooting Swing Vote, about a US Presidential election that comes down to one man's deciding vote, along with Dennis Hopper, Kelsey Grammar and Stanley Tucci. Let's hope he's gotten rid of the soul patch he's been sporting in recent pictures for that part.
