There have been many people in the cowl on screen as Batman, but only a few can claim the fan-following of a man who has thus far only voiced the Caped Crusader and Bruce Wayne, his alter ego. Now Kevin Conroy, the man who has been the voice of the hero in animated form for years, is getting his chance in front of the camera.
Announced by the CW at this year's TCA summer press tour, this year's crossover of the various "Arrowverse" shows – Arrow, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and newcomer Batwoman – will feature Conroy as an older Bruce Wayne from the future.
The crossover promises to be typically epic, and with Arrow bowing out this season, it will have even wider implications than usual. Brandon Routh, normally found as Ray Palmer on Legends, will also be suiting up as the version of Superman as portrayed in Alex Ross's Kingdom Come comics run. That's after he famously played a different version in 2006's Superman Returns. Burt Ward, Robin from the 1960s Batman show, is appearing in an unspecified role and Cress Williams is scheduled to show up as Black Lightning, thanks to the multiverse-spanning story opening up the opportunity.
In the States, the Crisis crossover kicks off on Supergirl on 8 December, followed by Batwoman the next day and Flash the day after that. With a break for the Christmas holiday, the story concludes in Arrow and Legends Of Tomorrow one after the other on 14 January.
