As he’s scored more and more work, Ken Jeong has become something of an acquired comedy taste. When used sparingly and in the right role, he adds extra spice to a film or TV shows like Community, where he's ace. But in movies such as The Hangover trilogy and Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, his manic mannerisms became more grating than satisfying. We’re hoping International Incident will let him find a balanced blend of comic stylings{
Summit Entertainment has put down the cash to buy the pitch from former Daily Show head writer David Javerbaum. His idea finds five United Nations delegates in trouble when they embark on a road trip to find one of the group’s former flames. It’ll be interesting to see how Jeong works as a lead of a film, but like we said, hopefully it means he won’t have to resort to screeching every line.
The Daily Show connections go further than Javerbaum. Steve Carell, who saw his career skyrocket thanks to the comedy news show, is planning to produce the film via his Carousel Productions company. He’s been taking on more and more projects on screens both big and small since he finished on The Office, and may even end up cameoing in the new movie.
Jeong is at work on high school comedy** The Duff** and is part of the voice cast for The Penguins Of Madagascar, with the spin-off due here on December 5.
