Since his big movie break in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up back in 2007, Ken Jeong has become The Ubiquitous Former Doctor, cropping up in almost every comedy made since Seth Rogen got Katherine Heigl preggers. He made most impact in the Hangove****r films, but Michael Bay even found a role for him in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon and has decided to keep him around, since Jeong will appear in Pain And Gain.
Bay is shooting the dark comedy right now with Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg playing two bodybuilders in Miami who cook up a cockeyed scheme that involves kidnapping and extortion.
Jeong has signed on to play someone named Johnny Wu, though there are no other details of his role. He’s joining a cast that already includes Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Rebel Wilson, Rob Corddry and Anthony Mackie.
There’s no word yet on when Pain And Gain will hit cinemas, but you just know Paramount has a van idling, waiting to whisk Bay away the minute he finishes the film to start work on the next Transformers instalment. Since Jeong met a spectacular end in Dark Of The Moon, we wouldn’t expect him to return, though he does have Rapturepalooza in the can and has lent his voice to DreamWorks Animation’s racing snail ‘toon Turbo.
