Having scored roles in the likes of The Photograph and The Trial Of The Chicago 7, Kelvin Harrison Jr. will be seen in a supporting role for Baz Luhrmann's Elvis film. He'll be blues legend B.B. King.
Austin Butler is playing Presley, while Tom Hanks is notably aboard as Colonel Tom Parker for the film, written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce. It'll delve into the complex dynamic between Presley and the enigmatic Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).
Luhrmann had to shut down shooting in March when the pandemic hit (and Hanks contracted Coronavirus), but resumed in September and is now finishing off the film. Harrison will also be showing off his singing skills in Joe Wright's Cyrano musical adaptation, due for release in 2022.
