Frasier is, by any real metric, one of the great sitcoms of all time, a rare spin-off that matched its parent show (Cheers) and won boatloads of awards. So word that star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer is taking meetings about a potential reboot is a little disturbing.
As Deadline reports, that's all it is at the moment: Grammer has been meeting with writers and producers to hear ideas for a new version of the show, originally created by David Angell, Peter Casey and David Lee, albeit one that would still star him. This could mean another move for the character, who already switched from the Boston Cheers locale to the Seattle setting of Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons and saw him relocate to reconnect with his father (John Mahoney's Martin) and brother (David Hyde Pierce's Niles).
Rebooting sitcoms, with or without the original cast, has become just as big a trend as movie remakes, but this one would be a true challenge: we don't envy actors living up to the performances. Let's see if this one makes it past the discussion stage...
