So she’s giving herself a leg up by starting to produce films she can star in. Her first crack at that dual responsibility will be an adaptation of Suzanne Rindell’s novel** The Other Typist{
Fox Searchlight has bought the rights to the book, which hit shelves in May. The plot follows Rose, a lonely typist in a police precinct in 1920s New York, who starts a friendship with a beautiful and mysterious co-worker. Together, they head out to explore the forbidden underworld of the city in that era.
It all ends tragically when her new pal is revealed to be a time-travelling lizard from the year 23… What? Oh. Apparently that doesn’t happen. But no one has written the script yet, so if Searchlight wants to buy that addition from us, our phone is always on and our rates are surprisingly reasonable. We doubt the story needs much help, though, as it’s described as a blend of Hitchcock and Highsmith with just a dash of Gatsby. So that’s nice, eh, old sport?
Knightley will next be seen in Jack Ryan (due December 26) and indie drama **Can A Song Save Your Life? **She’s currently at work on Laggies and is also in talks to co-star with Benedict Cumberbatch in The Imitation Game.
