You might recall that in 2016, horror movie The Boy saw Lauren Cohan playing a woman menaced by a doll that a family treated as a real boy. The horror movie was successful enough to spawn a sequel, and Katie Holmes will star this time.
William Brent Bell is returning to the director's chair for this one, with Stacey Menear once again providing the script. The sequel's story will find a family moving into the Heelshire estate, unaware of the strange events that occurred before. Then the young son of the group makes friends with an eerily lifelike doll called Brahms and, well, if you've seen the original, you know roughly where it might go from there.
Bell is gearing up to shoot in Canada this coming January, with STX Films and Lakeshore Entertainment teaming back up to produce. Before that, though, he's also squeezing in supernatural divorce thriller Separation, which will star Rupert Friend and starts filming next month.
As for Holmes, she'll appear in music drama Coda alongside Patrick Stewart and is attached to an adaptation of self-help book The Secret. And if all this scary stuff and the pre-Halloween mood has you in the mood to watch something terrifying, check out our list of The 50 Best Horror Movies.
