With production well underway in Vancouver (despite some problems from the unpredictable weather and, according to director Brad Bird, issues related to the recent US government shutdown), you might be forgiven for thinking that there would be no more casting announcements for Disney’s big mystery project, Tomorrowland. Yet word arrives via the Hollywood Reporter of Kathryn Hahn joining the ensemble{
George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Judy Greer, Britt Robertson and Raffey Cassidy are among those appearing in a story about which we know very little. The official plotline announcement points to a tale about a “bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment who embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as Tomorrowland." So... make what you will of that.
Naturally, real character info is being key quiet, but the Reporter’s sources have learned that Hahn will be Ursula, a funny, scene-stealing woman. That, let’s face it, sounds perfect for someone who habitually half-inches scenes out from under the leads. She’s most recently been seen in We’re The Miller****s, and has The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty and This Is Where I Leave You set for release.
Tomorrowland, scripted by Bird alongside Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen, has a US release set for December 12 next year and will arrive here on December 26. Happy mystery boxing day!
