No, Kathryn Bigelow is not grabbing a gun and going after the Taliban herself*. It just looks like the director of The Hurt Locker is not done with the desert just yet, as she's now attached to real-life kidnap drama Held By The Taliban.
While it's still very early in development (it doesn't even have a script in place yet), the project is being adapted from David Rohdes' series of columns for the New York Times that chronicled what happened when he and his guides were snatched by gunmen while on assignment in Pakistan in 2008.
Rohdes spent seven months as a captive after being taken hostage en route to interview a Taliban commander.
He lived to tell the tale, and his experiences made for fascinating reading. With luck, his work will become a compelling film, and is certainly on the right track if Bigelow ends up directing it...
*Bet she could, though. If you can be married to James Cameron for years, chances are most other challenges are a breeze.
