While it still doesn’t have an official title (keep ‘em coming, Twitterers and commenters), the all-female take on The Expendables is continuing to build its cast. The latest recruit? Experienced tough type Katee Sackhoff.
The actress, who might still be best known as Starbuck in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, has proved her mettle in other venues, including on CSI, 24 and the short-lived remake of Bionic Woman.
Now she’s joining Gina Carano in the film, which has yet to release a plot (beyond the obvious “female action heroes go on a mission and shoot stuff”) for the script written by Dutch Southern.
1984 Private Defence Contractors chief Adi Shankar is producing and has been busy trying to sign up other tough female stars. He seems pleased with his latest recruit, as he outlined in a statement picked up by Variety. "If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars.” Yes, he’s down with the “the kids”, folks.
Sackhoff will next show up in the still-untitled Chronicles Of Riddick sequel and The Haunting in Georgia. She’s currently filming horror pic Oculus and will return in the second season of US network A&E’s Western series Longmire.
