Woody Allen's latest completed film, Cafe Society, doesn't even hit these shores until September, but he's already starting to build the cast for his next project. According to Variety's sources, Kate Winslet is making a deal to star.
Guess what we know about the film so far? It's Woody Allen, so pretty much all we can even guess at is a jazzy soundtrack and his usual font for the titles. He is, as ever writing, directing and producing the film, and is looking to kick off work in the autumn. But that's about it for details.
It would make the first time that Winslet has worked with the director, and it does make you wonder why it took so long for their paths to cross. He has tried to secure her services in the past, for Match Point, and she turned him down, citing family time.
As for Cafe Society, that film (starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg), that arrives on September 2, and you can see the trailer below. Winslet can next be seen in Collateral Beauty, out on December 30.
