Given that it features shorts crafted by more than 15 writes and directors including Peter and Bobby Farrelly, Elizabeth Banks, Brett Ratner, Griffin Dunne, James Gunn and Bob Odenkirk and a host of actors with names such as Emma Stone, Chloe Moretz, Kate Winslet, Hugh Jackman, Kristen Bell, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt, Richard Gere, Gerard Butler, Uma Thurman, Jason Sudeikis and Justin Long, it’s perhaps not surprising that ensemble comedy Movie 43 has taken a little while (if by "little while" you mean four years) to come together. Now the film is finally headed for cinemas and some official still have arrived courtesy of EW. Check out the gallery below.
Movie 43, the brain spawn of regular Farrelly collaborator / producer Charlie Wessler, was made over a period of four years, with various talents both behind and in front of the camera shooting their short chunks in between other projects. There is a main overarching plot, but all evidence points to the various performers working in sketches that knit together into a cohesive whole. At least, that’s the plan.
The sections include Stone and Kieran Culkin as a couple who split up and meet again at a supermarket to talk out their issues – without realising they’re also on loudspeaker, Halle Berry on a very weird ‘net date with Stephen Merchant, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber as parents who home school their son (Jeremy Allen White) but decide he needs to go through the authentic high school experience – including being bullied – and Kate Winslet, who goes to dinner with Hugh Jackman and discovers something very odd about him...
Oh, plus what looks like a call back to Long’s frustrated Robin, with Sudeikis in Batman's cowl this time instead of Sam Rockwell.
We’ll be intrigued to see how you cut a trailer for this one. The movie itself arrives here on February 1. For more pics, head to EW's site.
