Even as he works with John Hodge on a potential script for a new Bond movie, Danny Boyle has been turning his directorial focus to a new, untitled comedy from Richard Curtis. The pair is busy building the cast for the movie, with Lily James and Himesh Patel already taking part. Now Kate McKinnon is in talks to join them.

Details are being kept quiet on this one for now, but we do know it charts the rise of a musician in the UK in the 1960s and '70s. None of the roles have been announced, so we don't yet know what McKinnon will play if she does actually sign on.

Boyle is gearing up to shoot the film this summer (which would work in terms of McKinnon's break from Saturday Night Live) and is his current focus, before any Bond plans can even be considered.

As for McKinnon, she has The Spy Who Dumped Me due on 10 August.
