Following yesterday's announcement about **Mara, the Olga Kurylenko horror thriller about Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome, there's news this morning that we can expect yet further sleep-danger shenanigans. Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane will be teaming up to tackle **Somnia{ =nofollow}, the next film from **Oculus **director Mike Flanagan. Nine, ten, never sleep again...

On a different tack to Mara's sleep paralysis, **Somnia **focuses on an orphaned child (Jacob Tremblay, from The Smurfs 2) whose dreams and nightmares manifest physically as he sleeps (wasn't that a Buffy episode?). Bosworth and Jane will be playing his adoptive parents, presumably forced to deal with whatever junior conjures up after bedtime.

Flanagan's Oculus (about a possessed antique mirror) also had orphans at its centre, which is perhaps why producer Trevor Macy calls Somnia "a natural follow-up".

"We're thrilled that Kate and Thomas have joined us," says Macy, "and look forward to presenting Somnia at the American Film Market." William D. Johnson of financiers Demarest Films is similarly "thrilled to be working with Mike and Trevor". So many thrills! Let's hope there are an equal number in the finished movie.

As well as directing, Flanagan wrote Somnia's screenplay in cahoots once again with his Oculus writing partner Jeff Howard. Shooting starts next weekend.
