DreamWorks Animation announced in April 2013 that it was working on a sequel to caveman family comedy **The Croods, but given how long it takes to produce CG films generally, it’s not a shock to have to wait for updates. But we do at least now know that Kat Dennings and Leslie Mann will be part of the voice cast for the follow-up{
The sequel, which is once more from writing/directing team Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, picks up with the prehistoric family (including Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Clark Duke, Catherine Keener and Ryan Reynolds as human pal Guy), settling into life in a community. But this time, they’ll have to deal with snooty upscale neighbours who want to compete with them. Mann will play the matriarch of this new family, with Dennings as the daughter, who has had her hunting instincts suppressed.
Mann, last seen in The Other Woman, will crop up in the new Vacation movie (out on August 21) and How To Be Single, which arrives here on February 12 next year. Dennings, currently best known here for her snark-tastic turn as Darcy in the Thor films, spends most of her time appearing on US TV sitcom 2 Broke Girls.
