After spending years making Disney's Moana, you might think director Chris Williams would be ready for something that doesn't require quite so much water, which is notoriously tough to animate. Still, he's headed out to the oceans (he knows the waaaaay) for new animated adventure The Sea Beast, which has a first trailer online thanks to Netflix's ongoing Geeked Week.

Set in an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes — and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland (Karl Urban). But when young Maisie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator) stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history.

Depending on your feeling towards Urban's stabs at a British accent (fans of The Boys already have this debate), this looks to be a rollicking adventure with a great central duo. The likes of Dan Stevens, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Kathy Burke also make up the voice cast and The Sea Beast is aiming for a limited cinema release (possibly only in the US) ahead of it landing on Netflix on 8 July.
