Kane & Lynch Stalls Again

Many films have difficulties on their way to the screen, with deals falling through and actors becoming attached then drifting away again. But it’s beginning to look like the universe just doesn’t want the movie adaptation of video game Kane & Lynch to make it to the screen, as yet another director – District 13: Ultimatum**’s Patrick Alessandrin – has left the project.

It all seemed to be going so well earlier: K****ane & Lynch boasted an intriguing action concept about two death row inmates who escape from prison and get to work on a big bank job to help one of their families. And the game offered brand recognition to boot. Plus, the producers were able to secure Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx for the leads.

But finding a director has been another story. Running Scared’s Wayne Kramer and Law Abiding Citizen’s F Gary Gray have both been on board and then exited the movie. Alessandrin wasn’t even formally announced and he’s already gone.

According to the LA Times, the project is now on hold, with the original planned start date shoved back and no firm idea on when it might happen. On the brighter side, there’s apparently a chance that either Kramer or Gray could return to the director’s chair, though no decision has yet been made.
