Things have been fairly quiet on the news front for DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls project. While Mike Mitchell jumped on board to direct and Anna Kendrick was cast last year, it’s been tumbleweeds since then. No longer! Justin Timberlake will also be lending his vocals to the movie.

Now billed as a musical comedy – makes sense, since both Kendrick and Timberlake have proven pipes – the film will be based around the wild-haired dolls originally created in Denmark in 1959 and became a toy craze.

Mitchell, along with writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Burger, is cooking up the story of Branch (Timberlake), described as a hardcore survivalist who takes things a little too far. He’ll still come in handy, though, on an adventure with Kendrick’s Princess Poppy. That’s all we know about the movie so far, though it has a November 4, 2016 release date in the US and should be with us a little earlier, on October 21.

Timberlake has largely letting his film acting career take a backseat to music and other work recently, including providing the score to** The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea**, which is out next year.
