Justin Timberlake May Be Fully Automatic

It’s a big day for news leaking out about Warner Bros. films. Following on from word that Tom Hardy may end up playing Al Capone in Cicero for the studio comes news that Social Network star Justin Timberlake is apparently attached to a long-in-development buddy cop action thriller called Fully Automatic.

The script is one that’s been hanging around for a while now and popped back up above ground when Running Scared director Wayne Kramer agreed to direct the movie back in 2009. It all sounds a very Lethal Weapon-style affair about two fresh-faced coppers who team up with a female Delta Force operative to take down a crazed mercenary with violent plans.

It might not surprise you to learn that Joel Silver is the man looking to get this one finally made, and if Timberlake truly is attached as one of the leads (and there is nothing official about it just yet), that could give it a real nudge. But it appears he’ll need a director: in Vulture’s tiny mention of the new wrinkle, there’s also zero talk of Kramer. Which makes it sound like he’s no longer involved. This one could still be a ways off.

Still, those needing some Timberlake time will find what they need in the upcoming comedy Friends with Benefits and Andrew Niccol’s anticipated return to thoughtful sci-fi drama, In Time, which arrives in November.
