Having handed over the mantle of directing duties on the Fast & Furious franchise to James Wan, Justin Lin is now able to concentrate on the other projects he’s got bubbling away, many from his production company, Perfect Storm. After launching a TV division in April, he’s now working up the first small screen idea, a drama based on material written by no less an icon than Bruce Lee.
Deadline was not able to dig up many details on what the show might actually entail, but apparently Lin and partner Bruno Wu are working with Bruce Lee Enterprises to develop the show, and are set to start meeting with potential show runners soon.
Assuming it gets to the pilot stage, Lin – who has experience directing small screen work with the epic paintball episodes of Community – would call the shots on that launch episode.
As for the big screen, Lin hasn’t locked in a new movie yet, though he’s attached to several scripts and seems to be closing in on an untitled thriller based on a new book by Patrick Lee. It remains to be seen where he lands now he doesn’t have to cram Vin Diesel and Paul Walker into cars anymore, but we suspect whatever he does will be pleasantly mental.
