Justice League is on Empire's cover this month – and inside, there's eight pages of coverage, reporting directly from the Leavesden Studios set of DC's giant superhero mash-up. You'll have to pick up a copy of the new issue for the full meaty goodness, on sale from Thursday, but for now enjoy this amuse-bouche: a never-before-seen shot of Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman enjoying a bit of downtime in the Batcave. Inside the feature, the stars give us some insight into what we can expect from DC's first giant superhero assemblage, emphasising that the tone might be not be so similar to previous DCEU entries. “Justice League is not a dark or heavy movie,” explains Gal Gadot. “It doesn’t have the weight that Batman v Superman had.”
Affleck, meanwhile, notes the extraordinary scale of the project. “The movie’s bigger in scale than any movie I’ve been involved with in my career,” says Affleck. “It feels massive in terms of the visual elements. That’s something that Zack (Snyder, director) is really good at. That will be admired.”
Plus, Affleck jokes about 'moustachegate' – the rumour that Henry Cavill had to return to Justice League reshoots with a moustache for a separate film that will allegedly have to be digitally removed from Justice League. “It was a full-on porn-star moustache,” jokes Affleck. “He looked like a porn star from the ’70s, just with a better body. It’s a different twist [on Superman].”
