It started life as Holiday in Hawaii, and then became Pretend Wife. But now, with its title finally settled, here's the trailer for Just Go With It, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Denis Dugan (Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy) is the director, and Tim Herlihy (practically every Sandler film you can think of) had a hand in the script, along with Timothy Dowling and Alan Loeb.
"Just go with what?", we hear you ask. The new title, no doubt focus-grouped into pleading submission, refers to the film's central concept of Sandler's lie that just keeps on growing, and Aniston's complicity in it. Sandler, as you'll see from the trailer, uses a fake wedding ring and a sob story (several, in fact) as schtick to pick up the ladeez. But when he finds the one he thinks is The One, he needs his best pal Jennifer to pose as his soon-to-be-ex-wife and extricate him from his tall tale. It's not long before her kids are involved too.
It looks like amiable fun, with both stars doing what they do: Aniston with the ditzy glamour and Sandler with the man-child. Will it turn out that Sandler realises The One is not the one after all, and that Aniston is the love of his life that's been right in front of him the whole time? She is, after all, wearing glasses that make her hotness entirely invisible. We couldn't possibly speculate. But if Just Go With It seems cosy and familiar, that's surely the point. It's released on February 11 next year, just in time for Valentine's Day.
