Educational field trips are all very well, and we're sure kids are probably sick of being dragged round museums full of dusty bones. But taking a group to Isla Nublar for an adventure camp? That sounds like a recipe for running a screaming. Still, that's the concept for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, an animated spin-off from the dino franchise coming to Netflix next year.
The series is set within the same timeline as the 2015’s Jurassic World, and follows a group of teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. Of course, the dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, leaving the campers stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive... The safety lawsuits are going to be bigger than a T-Rex.
Scott Kreamer and Lane Lueras are overseeing the show, with Jurassic worldbuilders Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Colin Trevorrow as executive producers. The series will kick off on the streaming service, as mentioned, in 2020.
