And so the latest domino tumbles on the release schedule. Jurassic World: Dominion, which had been on track to arrive in June next year, is now stomping off to a release date a year later.

The move apparently has nothing to do with production problems. Despite some positive Coronavirus tests among crew members in remote locations, the film, under director Colin Trevorrow, has been chugging along since restarting, and is on track to be finished shooting in around three weeks at its UK studio base.

This is more about breathing room on an increasingly packed 2021 schedule. Films such as Dune Black Widow and No Time To Die have all upped stakes and moved into next year, and with a huge financial stake in the dino-madness, the studio wants to make sure it has as much chance as possible to maintain the healthy earning power of the franchise. There is also the consideration of cinema capacity and punters being concerned about returning without a Covid vaccine in place yet. As of right now, the movie is only facing and untitled Disney/20th Century Studios title, and we're fairly certain the Mouse House will blink when confronted by the T-Rex-sized appeal of the latest Jurassic entry.

A poster for the movie, which features a callback to the original Jurassic Park, confirms the new release date: 10 June, 2022.
