If one of the big-screen casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic has been the production of Jurassic World: Dominion, Colin Trevorrow’s upcoming third instalment of the trilogy – which is now back up and shooting again – there’s another upcoming Jurassic project to keep fans busy in the meantime. Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – an animated series which, in true Jurassic style, sees a bunch of kids menaced by a bunch of marauding prehistoric clones. Watch the first footage below.

If the animation style seems to show that the series will skew somewhat younger than the movies, there are plenty of familiar scaly beasts sure to draw in fans – from the T-rex and the triceratops, to the genetically-engineered Indominus Rex. Yes, the Indominus Rex is here too, because the show is set concurrently with the first Jurassic World, as the central sextet of unlucky teens camp out on the other side of Isla Nublar while the main park falls and the Indominus goes on its killing spree.

The show is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Colin Trevorrow, and the episodes will drop on 18 September. Meanwhile, Dominion – which also sees original Jurassic Park cast members Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern rejoin the fray – is currently scheduled for an 11 June 2021 release, pending the continued global health crisis.
