Though – mild spoiler alert if you've yet to watch it – Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle makes fun of the idea of a follow-up at the end, it's become such a big success for Sony that the studio is naturally putting the wheels in motion for another movie. Writers Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who worked on Jungle, are in talks to script the sequel.

Nothing is yet known about the story, especially since the writers are only just starting to discuss the idea of returning, other than it'll find some way to reunite Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black and send them off on another adventure. The sequel's – don't forget it already serves as a follow-up to the 1995 original – director Jake Kasdan is also expected to return, and has already been dreaming up possible schemes with the writers, who helped finesse a screenplay that also saw work from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Rosenberg and Pinkner have also worked on other projects for Sony, including Venom, which is due on screens on 5 October.
