Her day job these days is playing the sensible mother of a pack of people who need to grow up (including her husband) on sitcom Modern Family, but Julie Bowen is also signing up for a couple of film roles, in Horrible Bosses and wedding comedy** Jumping The Broom**.
Bosses will see her joining a crowded cast that already includes Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell (in a dreadful comb-over look that should be hilarious), Kevin Spacey and Saturday Night Live’s Jason Sudekis. She’ll be playing Kevin Spacey’s wife in the film.
King of Kong man Seth Gordon is behind the camera for the movie, which will see three friends who hate their supervisors and decide to off them – with predictably zany results. (It’s a comedy, so we hope so).
Bowen’s second role is in the much lower profile Broom, in which two African-American families from very different backgrounds will become joined in matrimony. Salim Akli is directing that one in Martha’s Vineyard, and Bowen will play a stressed, control-freak wedding planner.
