Good news if you’re a fan of talented actresses: Julianne Moore and constant spelling nemesis Olivia Thirlby have signed on to Paul Weitz’ passion project, the adaptation of Nick Flynn’s memoir Another Bullst Night in Suck City**.
While we seriously doubt the title will stay exactly the same for the movie’s final release (local councils and parents’ organisations don’t tend to look all that kindly on big ol’ swear words on cinema marquees), the film will aim to keep the emotional honesty of the book intact, telling the story of how Flynn, employed as a caseworker at a Boston homeless shelter, ended up interacting with his estranged, eccentric, brilliant and street-sleeping father.
Paul Dano is playing the Flynn character, while De Niro is his father, Jonathan.
The Film Stage discovered Moore’s presence in the cast by digging up a call for a stand-in, but has not been able to find out her role. Deadline, meanwhile, brings word that Thirlby will play Denise, Dano’s love interest and the person who helps him get the job in the first place.
Weitz is busy cranking the cameras right now and the movie should arrive next year.
