The last time Julia Roberts was on our cinema screens, she was in Wonder alongside Jacob Tremblay. She's sticking with childhood themes for a new role in book adaptation Little Bee.
Amazon Studios has actress/writer Kathleen Robertson adapting Chris Cleave's bestseller into a film that finds the eponymous young Nigerian asylum seeker meeting a British magazine editor (Roberts) during the oil conflict in the Niger Delta. They're reunited under mysterious, complicated circumstances in England several years later.
The film has Ritesh Batra attached to direct and Roberts will also produce via her company. It'll mark the latest attempt to film the 2010 book: Nicole Kidman was attached to star in a version for BBC Films, but that didn't come to life.
Roberts will next be seen in Ben Is Back and is working on TV series Homecoming, co-created by Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail.
