Aside from TV movies and her work as a producer, Julia Roberts hasn't included much TV in her recent career. She certainly seems ready to change that, already signing up to star in a new miniseries headed for HBO. And she's adding another potential job, entering talks to star in Homecoming for Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
Though you might think that writing (and often directing) episodes of the hacker thriller series would keep him busy, Esmail has been developing a small screen adaptation of the popular fictional podcast. The online version of the story is told through phone calls, conversations and therapy sessions, and starred Catherine Keener as a caseworker at a secret government facility who has to deal with her ambitious boss (David Schwimmer) and Oscar Isaac as a soldier who is desperate to lead a more normal life.
If she takes the role, Roberts would play Keener's part, with Esmail writing the script and producing the show. Universal Cable Productions (where he has a deal) is putting all together and the show will be offered up to potential network, cable and streaming homes. With Roberts even so much as interested, we'd guess this will be a quick sale.
