His day job is producing a drama about people looking to change their lives through plastic surgery (Nip/Tuck). But writer-director Ryan Murphy will tackle a film about a woman after a different kind of change.
He’s developing an adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir Eat, Pray, Love for Julia Roberts to star in. The book tracks Gilbert’s unhappiness with her seemingly perfect life – husband, big apartment, second home, baby on the way – and the steps she took to get happier. She took plenty –ending up getting divorced and heading off around the world.
Murphy has just finished directing his first film, Running With Scissors, starring Annette Bening. He has Watergate drama Dirty Tricks up next and will then turn his attention to adapting the new book.
